AI-Powered Mobile Communication Systems for Mobility in
The goal of the AI4Mobile project is, on the one hand, to further develop AI methods by incorporating expertise specific to mobile communications in order to tailor them to the requirements of mobile networks. On the other hand, AI is intended to become an integral part of existing and future mobile communication architectures.
The focus here is on future mobility applications such as autonomous connected driving or mobile robotics in highly dynamic production environments. A core element of the AI4Mobile solution is the provision of end-to-end prediction of critical quality-of-service parameters (e.g., data rate, latency), as well as proactive resource optimization and networking based on these predictions across all parts of the mobile network infrastructure.

- A major challenge for mobile communication systems is the high volatility of QoS parameters.
- The system merely reacts to changes and disruptions.
- Unforeseen events can negatively impact users, potentially leading to system failure.
- Use of data from all parts of the mobile network (interconnected end devices, RAN, and core network)
- Use of AI methods for robust prediction of QoS parameters (particularly throughput and latency) under high mobility
- Real-time network optimization, specifically for resource management in both the RAN and the core network
- Early detection of critical conditions maintains system performance when undefined conditions and disruptions occur
- AI support to enable various connected mobility concepts
